  • Abstract
Carbon has a broad variety of different allotropes such as graphite, diamond, fullerene, carbon black, carbon nanotube, and graphene, which have unique properties compared to other structures. Compared to other forms of carbon, graphene has significant advantages in structural, electrical and thermal properties and therefore has attracted global attention. Despite the desirable properties of graphene, the use of this material in some composite materials has reduced their electrical properties. The production and introduction of new two dimensional (2D) structures that do not have the challenges of graphene can create a new research field in the future. In the meantime, MXene 2D nanosheets have achieved double importance due to their layered structure and suitable physical, chemical, and mechanical properties in various fields such as electrochemical, magnetic, optical, and medical. MXene is a 2D nanosheet of conductive metals nitride or carbide that was first synthesized in 2011. Due to its unique properties and excellent performance in many applications, it quickly attracted research attention after 2018 and has replaced graphene in numerous applications. Nowadays, MXene nanosheets are coated in various methods on fiber structures in order to add suitable properties to textiles and be used in different applications such as conductive coatings, shielding of electromagnetic waves, antibacterial, flame retardant, and especially the production of multifunctional textiles. In this paper, after introducing MXene nanosheets, its synthesis protocoles, properties, and textile applications are reviewed.
