  • Abstract
The straightforward Solid-Phase Extraction (SPE) approach coupled with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was studied for its potential use in the measurement of low-concentration levels of Repaglinide (REP), a common anti-diabetic medicine. In this study, we successfully synthesized nanoparticles of phenyl-functionalized SBA-15 (referred to as SBA-15-Ph) and used them as an intelligent adsorbent to capture REP in certain biological samples. Some characterization and verification methods were used to outline the mesoporous silica nanoparticles; these methods included Fourier Transform InfraRed (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Small-Angle X-Ray Diffraction (SAXRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and N2 adsorption/desorption studies. The results showed that the phenyl functional groups were well absorbed into the surface of SBA-15 and that the as-made products exhibited hexagonal mesostructures. Significant merit values were also achieved, including a linear range spanning from 2.0 to 500 ng/mL, exhibiting a high correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9947, and demonstrating a limit of detection as low as 0.68 ng/mL. Repaglinide samples were quickly cleaned up and enriched using the suggested approach for chromatographic analysis, demonstrating the method’s efficacy.
