Abstract :
This study aims to determine the learning of the Iqro method in improving students reading skills at school. The research method uses a qualitative research approach in order to obtain broad and in-depth information regarding the ability to read the Koran through the Iqro method. The research location in this study was at SMP Muhammadiyah 27 involving 37 children. In collecting data used the method of observation, documentation, and interviews. In conducting data analysis, the researcher uses qualitative descriptive research with the application of inductive data analysis, namely data analysis that departs from specific problems and then draws general conclusions. Data validity through observation persistence, reference adequacy and data triangulation. Based on the results of the research, it shows that the iqro`method can be used to improve the ability to read the Qur an seen from the method of application, use of the method, encouraging active children and giving gifts so that children feel happy learning to read the Al-Qur an.
