Abstract :
This article highlights the critical need for assessing the environmental impacts arising from anthropogenic activities, particularly focusing on the balance between fauna, flora, water resources, soil, and air. Evaluating environmental impact is crucial for anticipating and mitigating the effects of projects on the environment while maintaining a balance between economic development and environmental protection. This study specifically aims to perform an in-depth evaluation of the environmental impacts caused by slaughterhouse operations using the Importance/Conesa matrix, chosen for its ability to systematically quantify and rank the significance of various impacts. The matrix offers a comprehensive approach, allowing for the categorization and comparison of multiple environmental factors. Through a systematic review of existing literature, the study identifies and quantifies key impacts on water, air, and soil resources. The findings indicate that the most significant impacts are related to the generation of odors, and solid and liquid waste, moderately affecting these environmental resources. For example, the study reveals measurable contamination levels in water due to nutrient overload and organic waste, which highlight the need for focused mitigation strategies in these areas. These quantified results provide actionable insights for improving environmental management in slaughterhouse operations.
