Synthesis of Model Compound Containing an Indole Spiro-(beta)-lactam Moiety with Vinylchloride in Chartellines

A model compound containing an indole (beta)-lactam moiety bearing vinylchloride in chartellines was synthesized from the Mannich reaction of isatin imine with ketene silyl acetal, (beta)-lactam formation of the resulting (beta)-amino ester, and copper(I)-mediated coupling with (E)-(alpha)-chloro-(beta)-iodostyrene.
