Stepwise Construction of Clusters Containing Ru2PtWS4 and Ru2Pt2WS4 Cores by the Thermal Reaction of [{Cp*Ru(CO)}2 (WS4)] (Cp* = (eta)5-C5Me5) with PtMe2(cod)] (cod = 1,5cyclooctadiene)

A large phenol- and polyether chain-based macrocycle H2L possessing four pyridylmethyl groups as pendant donors was prepared and its ability to encapsulate four divalent metal ions [Ni(II), Mn(II), and Zn(II)] was confirmed by IR and NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
