Abstract :
Dihalobis(tri-tert-butylsilyl)silanes (t-Bu3Si)2SiX2 (1a: X = Cl, 1b: X = Br) underwent photochemically (alpha)-elimination to produce halo(tri-tert-butylsilyl)silylenes, which were successively trapped by carbon tetrachloride, triethylsilane, and 3-hexyne. The halo (tri-tert-butylsily)silylenes were observed by UV–vis spectroscopy in a 3-methylpentane matrix at 77 K.
