Abstract :
Tialite was prepared from the chloride salts of aluminium and titanium via a urea formaldehyde resin formation route. Tialite was readily formed at 1450-1500° C in bodies processed from powders containing either 3 wt-%MgF2 or 5 wt-%MgO added during resin formation. The resultant material withstood heat treatment at 1100°C for 24 h without dissociation. In bodies prepared by mixing powders of MgO, MgF2, or a combination of both with polymer prepared powder, the resultant tialite was less stable against dissociation. BCT/305
