Abstract
Herein we present a study on the application of a thin-layer potentiometry for detection of an interaction of odorants with liposome lipid layer. Three different kinds of liposomes: neutral (phosphatidylcholine + cholesterol), negatively charged (with dicetylphosphate) and positively charged (with sterylamine), were applied for study of the influence of charge on the interaction with odorants. The relative marker ion tetrabutylammonium (TBA+) release from the interior of liposomes upon stimulation by odorants was used as a measure of their interaction with the lipid layer.
