Abstract
In most courses, an easy explanation of the influence of
feedback capacitance connected between collector and base (or drain and
gate) of a transistor is usually done using the Miller effect approach.
While input capacitance is correctly presented and the dominant pole
deciding about the cutoff frequency calculated, the zero and the second
pole of the transfer function are not given. In this contribution a
new approach to that problem is presented and compared with an
accurate (but involved) calculation and with computer simulation using
the HSPICE simulation program.
Keywords
Miller effect , Poles and zeros , transfer function.
