breakers. A diagnostic system, the Prototype Commercial PoltaMe
Diagnostic System (E”DS) has been developed Hardware of the
€“DS includes a poltable computer, and a data acquisition unit and
computer communication cruds. Signal pmcessing techniques include
the discrete energy sQCstics envelope, short-time pwer spectnmq
timing extraction algorithm and chi-square based shape test
Decision-making is canied out via a voter pmgiam, to which
individual resulb fmm the timing and shape analysis pm~grams am
passed. Statistical and empirical htsholds have been established,
that classify the cinxit breaker as Wig in Normal-Transitional-
Abnormal (Green-Yellow-Red) condition.
