Abstract :

device is a nd. This paper explores a new
method to imp~ement frequency tracking and phasor
estimation in a numerical relay. A new aIgorithm is
utilizes a variable window DFT for
ng. Use of the Discrete Fourier
Transform (DFT) to compute the phasor estimates at a
freq~encyo ther than the assumed frequency is outlined
first. Next, a new ~ c h ~ foqr t~raceki ng the frequency is
outlined. The paper concludes with testing of the new
algorithm.
