Abstract :
Classical fault analysis methods for power systems
are based on symmetrical components to represent various
fault configurations. The complete electrical network is
decomposed using a complex transformation matrix into
decoupled zero, positive and negative sequence circuits.
Faulted power system steady-state voltages and currents are
computed using a nodal analysis solution method.
This paper presents an extension of the above methodology
using discretized RLC elements for the computation of
the actual transient response of a network for various fault
types. The decoupled networks are obtained using a real transformation
matrix.
