Abstract :
This paper presents a novel quasiresonant high frequency inverter at a fixed frequency of 200 kHz using static induction transistors (SITs) as power semiconductor switches. It is designed to operate under zero-volt switching to minimise switching losses, electrical stresses and EM1 noises over a wide range of regulated output power. Its output power can be regulated effectively by adjusting the duty cycle of the switching signals fed to the active switches. Its circuit operation and performance are analysed by computer-aided simulation. The simulation results are in good agreement with experimental ones obtained from a feasible breadboard. As a result, it is finding wide industrial applications, especially for induction heating.
