Abstract :
A finite difference scheme for diffusion theory is presented which is based on the finite element method, and which is as efficient and accurate as the nodal method using a quadratic approximation in the local coordinates for the flux. A series of test problems in one and two dimensional geometries show that the method produces accurate solutions without the need for the several iterations of the nodal method
