Abstract
The nuclear binding energy is calculated via the pressure of a gas on the moving nuclear surface. The nuclear surface velocity is proportional to . We get analytic expressions for most of the coefficients entering the formula. The main terms entering the binding energy are: volume, surface, coulomb, curvature, charge asymmetry and A0 energies. The isospin dependence was incorporated in a consistent manner. The model contains six free parameters.
