A general auto-index system for managing construction drawings

Auto-indexing acts as a framework for managing construction information that includes plans, sections, elevations, and details. Relationships among pieces of information are based upon indexes. Four modules define the system: the library-retrieving module, grid-indexing module, labeling module, and index-referring module. The auto-index system is suitable to manage large amounts of drawing information. With the assistance of the four modules, the relationship occurring among drawings or between drawings and details is clarified and automatically updated. The system can improve drawing management efficiency and reduce reviewing man-power.
