The quality perspective of the ready-mixed concrete industry in Turkey

This paper reports a study of quality in the ready-mixed concrete industry in Turkey. Ready-mixed concrete and total quality management are first considered in general, followed by an examination of the applicability of quality management systems to the ready-mixed concrete industry. A survey of 18 ready-mixed concrete plants in Turkey is reported. The survey used a questionnaire consisting of 35 questions directed to managers, engineers, and other technical staff of the plants. The results are evaluated by means of several statistical methods. The implications of the study for quality control in the Turkish ready-mixed industry are then discussed.
