Abstract
The efficient utilization of electrical transmission equipment such as power transformers and cables is essential within the countries of the former Soviet Union. Quite often, however, a more important issue is the functioning of transmission devices in overload regimes since operating under overload conditions can damage and destroy the transmission equipment. In this paper, the recommended functioning time of power cables for a given overloading degree and ambient temperature is determined. The time duration in both the operating (heating process) and the standby (cooling process) regimes is computed and presented graphically.
