Flow through a slot Original Research Article

Experiments were carried out in a laboratory channel to investigate the flow through a slot between two vertical plates. The nappe of the flow was well ventilated underneath to atmospheric pressure. The reattachment position and the distance to reattachment of the attaching flow to the channel bed were measured. The depth of the pool and the pressure downstream of the slot plates along the bed of the channel were also measured. The flow upstream of the plates was observed visually and photographically. The characteristics of a flow through a slot were analyzed and compared with the flow over a weir.
