Using 1H- and 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, the repeat unit of the lipopolysaccharide side-chain from Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae strain S29 was shown to have the following structure: 2Þ-b-L-Rhapð1! This structure is identical with that of the side-chain of Pseudomonas syringae pv. mori CFPB 1656
