Abstract :
Analyses of 5-year (1994–1998) monthly data from 4 upper-air and 7 surface meteorological
stations along the west coast of Borneo showed that throughout the year the subcloud layer is
convectively unstable, the lifting condensation level (LCL) is below 400 m, and the ventilation factor (VF)
is within 2000 m2 s 1. Spatial distribution of LCL and VF indicated that the lowest values are found in the
south and the highest in the north. However, the VF values were all in the ‘‘bad’’ category for pollution
dispersion.
