Integrated resource planning with renewable resources

There is no “one size fits all” role for renewables in utility resource plans, so the benefits and potential of renewables depend on careful analysis of the specifics of a given utilityʹs situation. As the state of the modeling art advances, and as implications of analysis are better understood, regulatory policy will move in a direction consistent with analysis and away from interim solutions like regulatory set-asides, targets and “green RFPs”.
