Abstract
Power traders have long complained of the difficulties presented by thousands of nodal prices. Zonal pricing has been proposed as the remedy. But zonal pricing can cause serious price distortions even when zones are completely free of congestion. Now traders can have fewer prices than under a zonal pricing regime without the zonal price distortions.
