Growth and poverty: Evidence for developing countries in the 1980s

Measures of consumption-poverty for a sample of developing countries in the 1980s respond elastically to changes in mean consumption, although there is a high variance in poverty outcomes at a given rate of growth. There is no sign of systematic effects of growth on inequality.
