Productivity shocks and employment: evidence from US industrial data

This paper examines the effects of productivity shocks on US employment. We find strong evidence supporting the presence of ‘capitalization effectsʹ following technology shocks. Our findings provide empirical verification for a growing theoretical literature on business cycle-employment interactions.
