The symmetric problem in the linear almost ideal demand system

This paper derives a set of linear and nonlinear restrictions to make a n-goods linear almost ideal demand system symmetric when all prices are allowed to vary. The consequences of imposing such restrictions on the demand elasticities are illustrated using the United States meat consumption data.
