Abstract :
Kinetic-spectrophotometric studies of the uncatalyzed reaction between resazurin-sulfide and Se(IV)-catalyzed reaction of resazurin have been made. The effects of basicity, reagent concentrations and temperature have been studied. Both the catalyzed and the uncatalyzed reactions are first order with respect to sodium sulfide and zero order with respect to resazurin. The activation energies of both the catalyzed and uncatalyzed reactions are reported and a kinetic model for the catalytic reaction is proposed.
