Positive surge travelling in open channels

Problems of positive surge in open channels are usually computed solving an implicit equation, obtained from the continuity and momentum equations by a tedious trial and error method. Here, a generalised numerical solution in the Newton-Raphson form for computation of positive surge is presented.
