A NEW METHOD FOR CONDUCTING O/D SURVEY

Methods for conducting O/D surveys have been reviewed. Direct methods of collecting O/D data have proved to be highly costly. This urged the researchers to devise cheaper indirect methods of estimating O/D demand from other more easily available information. This paper proposes a direct method of O/D study which collects the same information as a conventional home interview survey with low out-of-pocket cost. The study is done with the help of studentsand teachers. The applicability of the method has been shown through the presentation of two case studies. In addition, the method may he considered as a means of obtaining a great deal of social information.
