Abstract :
A simple and sensitive extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of silver is described. The method is based on the quantitative extraction of the 1:1 complex of silver with 4-(2-Pyridylazo) resorcionl at pH 7 into a 1:1 (v/v) mixture of benzene-isobutanol, followd by spectrophotometric measurements. Beerʹs law is obeyed over the range of 0.210.0 mu cm^-3 at 510nm with the molar absorptivity of l.l X 10^4 dm^3mol^-1 cm-1 The method has a wide range and is rapid and free from interferences from many cations and anions. The procedure was applied to the determination of silver in developed radiologic films.
