Abstract
The activity coefficient of benzene in water has been measured in a very low concentration region using the head space analysis experimental technique. The results of the experiments have been presented in the form of an empirical relation between the ratio of the activity coefficient at high dilution to its miscibility limit value and the normalized difference between the actual and miscibility limit compositions. The relation is nonlinear and becomes asymptotic near the miscibility limit. For this system, the activity coefficient m Henryʹs law region is not flat as expected and increases with decreasing concentration.
