Abstract :
A comparison is made between two adaptive grid generation methods: elliptic and spring analogy methods. An integral representing smoothness, orthogonality and compliance to the desire weight function is minimized to determine the constant parameters involved in tile spring analog method. In this way, a high quality grid is produced using the spring analogy method. Different spring analogy adapting techniques, such as adapting according to solution variation on the boundary or solution variation in the flow field, are applied. The resulting scheme is coupled to a transonic flow solver and provides improved results.
