Abstract :
There are different approaches for the analysis and modeling of microstrip antenna. The cavity model is one of the efficient methods used to analyze the rectangular patch antenna [1, 2]. In this paper, the cavity method used by Carver [3] is modified by taking into account: 1) the mutual coupling between radiating walls, 2) the influence of the nonradiating walls and 3) the effect of surface waves. Very good agreement is shown with the available experimental and theoretical results for input impedance and resonance frequency of rectangular antennas. An improvement is shown with respect to previous cavity models.
