Abstract :
Lithium reactivity was investigated in a propylene carbonate-ethylene carbonate-dimethylcarbonate (1:1:3 volume) mixture with CF3SO3Li and LiAsF6 as the lithium salts. Resistance changes due to passivating layer formed on bulk lithium and electrodeposited lithium consumption were found to be diffusion-limited processes. Results indicate that lithium reactivity increases with the temperature. Moreover, it was shown that the addition of ethylene carbonate to propylene carbonate generally deteriorates both the lithium stability and the cycling characteristics, while the addition of dimethyl carbonate enhances these parameters.
