Abstract :
Thermal deformations and stresses in cross-ply laminated circular cylindrical shells are
investigated. The state space approach is used to solve exactly the thermoelastic governing equations
of the third-order, first-order and classical theories for arbitrary boundary conditions. To illustrate
the thermoelastic behavior, exact analytical solutions for deflections and stresses are obtained for
laminated circular cylindrical shells undergoing uniform and linearly varying temperature fields
through the thickness while having sinusoidal distribution of thermal loading. Copyright 0 1996
