On the problem of rigid inclusions between two dissimilar elastic half-spaces with smooth surfaces

The surface displacements and contact stress induced by rigid inclusions between two dissimilar elastic half!spaces are considered[ Previous studies limited to ~at rigid inclusions have revealed that the contact stress on opposite sides of the inclusions are identical and that the surface displacements of the two half! spaces are proportional[ The solution is rederived here in a simple fashion by using the Boussinesq solutionand the conclusions of previous studies are generalized to non!~at rigid inclusions
