Abstract :
Based on the conservation law and bending theory, a very simple method to estimate stress intensity factors for circumferential periodic cracked pipes and shells is proposed. A series of closed form expressions of stress intensity factor are derived for cracked pipes and shells under di€erent loads, such as bending, tension, three-point-bending, distributed load or combined loads. The examples show that the present method can produce the results obtained from complete shell analysis
