Abstract
A Preston tube was used to determine the fluid forces on glass beads of 8, 20 and 35 mu m diameter adhering to a surface. The results indicate that the distribution of adhesion force for the same particle size follows a log normal distribution. The median adhesion force for glass beads of 8 mu m was 2.3*10^-9 Newton, for 20 mu m was 3*10^-9 Newton, and for 35 mu m was 5*10^-9 Newton.
