Self-inflicted foreign body mastitis: a case report

The purpose of ‘self-inflicted mastitis’ is not clear. We report a case of mastitis caused by self-introduced sewing needles. Self-inflicted breast diseases should be considered in the differential diagnosis of chronic and atypical forms of mastitis. Collaboration between surgeon and psychiatrist is important in patient management.
