Induction of strain-specific mouse mammary gland ductal architecture

Mammary glands reconstituted in the cleared fat pads of nude mice with mammary epithelium derived from several mouse strains demonstrate that strain-specific differences in the topology of adult virgin female mice are a developmental consequence of induction by hormonal and stromal influences rather than epithelial cell autonomy.
