Abstract :
In this study 353 subjects who were assessed for judicial purposes had completed one or both of the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scales. The setting in which the subjects were tested (prison vs hospital outpatients) made no significant difference to their suggestibility scores. However, the prison inmates had significantly higher immediate recall scores on the GSS 2 which disappeared once their memory had been adjusted for differences in their Full Scale I.Q. scores. The study indicates that the setting in which people are tested does not appear to significantly influence their suggestibility scores.
