Abstract :
This study investigated the reliabilities (internal consistency and split-half) and the validity of Heimʹs AH4 group test scores in a stratified random sample (N = 2926, 1548 girls and 1377 boys) for the age range 13–18 years. Cronbachʹs alphas ranged from 0.87 to 0.90 for Part I, 0.93 to 0.94 for Part II, and 0.94 to 0.95 for Total AH4; split-halves from 0.79 to 0.86 for Part I, 0.93 to 0.96 for Part II, and 0.95 for Total AH4. The correlation with Ravenʹs Standard Progressive Matrices—in a group of 227 pupils of all ages—was 0.56 for Part I, 0.61 for Part II, and 0.60 for Total AH4. The correlation of AH4 with school marks—in a group of 186 pupils of all ages except age 18—ranged from 0.73 to 0.78. The intercorrelations between both parts ranged from 0.63 to 0.70 in all age groups.
