Abstract :
The relationship between blame attribution, age and personality characteristics was investigated at Grendon therapeutic prison, replicating a previous study by Gudjonsson and Singh (1989; Personality and Individual Differences, 10, 67–70) at the same establishment. Results are generally consistent with earlier findings and indicate that guilt feeling attribution is related to age and neuroticism. External blame attribution is associated with psychoticism and hostility. Data is also reported on criminality, addiction and direction of hostility subscales which indicate that these personality characteristics are associated with external blame attribution.
