Abstract :
An obliquely rotated principal components analysis of the EPQ-R and a measure of personality disorder, the Dimensional Assessment of Personality Problems (DAPP-BQ) was conducted on 200 general population subjects. This yielded a five factor solution, in which three factors were defined by EPQ-R scales. The EPQ Neuroticism scale loads on a factor of general psychological distress; the Extraversion scale loads on a factor describing antisocial personality; and the Psychoticism and Lie scales jointly capture aspects of conduct disorder. Stepwise multiple regression analysis also indicated substantial relationships between the EPQ-R scales and several DAPP-BQ scales. The relationships obtained between measures of normal and abnormal personality lend additional support for the adoption of a dimensional model of personality disorder.
