Abstract :
One-hundred and fifty-seven undergraduate students were administered the Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) as a measure of pathological worry, the Worry Domains Questionnaire (WDQ) as a measure of nonpathological worry, and the Boredom Proneness Scale (BPS) to investigate nonpathological and pathological worry as separate constructs as related to boredom. Partial correlations were calculated for BPS scores and either PSWQ or WDQ scores while holding the other worry scale constant. With nonpathological worry held constant, pathological worry was unrelated to boredom proneness, whereas with pathological worry held constant nonpathological worry remained significantly related to boredom proneness. The results further support nonpathological and pathological worry as separate constructs.
