Abstract :
Scale properties and aspects of the construct validity of the Curious Experiences Survey (Goldberg, 1999), a newly revised measure of Dissociation, were examined in a sample of undergraduate university students. Results demonstrated that the scaleʹs factorial structure was generally maintained. The present sample was found to have higher mean item scores when compared to Goldbergʹs large community sample. Dissociation was found to correlate significantly with other self-report measures such as depression, boredom proneness, external locus of control, and vividness of visual imagery, and negatively with three aspects of self-esteem: social, appearance, and performance. Results are discussed in light of adding to the information about the construct of dissociation.
