On Issues Concerning Research in the University Setting

It is argued that creativity in architecture should be the culmination of a fundamental understanding of both social and physical sciences, and their integration in novel and meaningful ways. The need, and the meaning, of research in architecture continue to be debated, including the relationship with the studio. Issues of the research environment, of research funding, and of needed general support, are briefly considered.
