Abstract
A method of calculation of spherical reflective surfaces for stationary compound cylindrical concentrators by their parabolic trough analogues is developed. Studies based on the optimal parameters of these concentrators are performed. As is shown by the comparative calculations of the concentration between a spherical compound cylindrical concentrator and a parabolic trough concentrator truncated to the same height, the degree of concentration of the parabolic trough version is only 5% higher. This offers a means of using the spherical compound cylindrical version since it is simpler to manufacture in place of the truncated parabolic trough concentrator.
