Abstract :
115 patients with facial and neck burns were assessed for the presence and severity of psychological morbidity. Various manifestations of such disorders and their predisposing factors are described. Countermeasures to ameliorate these disorders consist of early psychological intervention, which should be begun at the time of the patientʹs admission and continued-until the patient returns to society together with carefully planned treatment of the burn wounds, and skillful reconstructive surgery to correct the resultant disfigurements to attain a reasonably satisfactory cosmetic effect.
